There were several nice models for sale at this year's show, which took place yesterday, Saturday, October 6, 2013.
I had two of my 1/50 metal DC-8s on show (a CPA and a Delta) and the CPA was sold and will now make its home in Toronto.
Mike Brown had some very nice models on offer with no takers. His 1/50 Air Canada DC-8 by Raise Up was a 1960s original, with wings and stand, and was offered at $850. What a sweet deal. He took the model back home. I would think that was half the model's true worth to a serious collector.
Mike also brought a fabulous 1/72 cutaway 747, which he was asking $2000 for, again with no takers. And he also had an amazing CPA 737 in 1/60 in the old pre-delivery scheme. It was in really good shape and a bargain at $650. No takers. And lastly, his 1/72 BOAC 707 was $260. Again no takers.
I do not think Mike would be open to these same bargain prices in dealing with someone outside of the cash-on-the-barrelhead show environment.
